Every parent, carer or guardian with a pupil at the school is considered an automatic member of the PTA. Nobody is excluded, and everybody who wants to be involved will have something valuable to offer.

When my eldest son started school a few years ago, I had no idea of the amount of work put in, or the level of funds raised by the PTA and their volunteers. I used to help at the odd function painting faces, and we’d join in at events. As the kids got older, I found I felt able to do a bit more and get a bit more involved. I’m happy to say I now give my time in my capacity as the current Chairperson of the PTA.

Our PTA is such a success because it’s made up of several different layers of support. There are those who give their kids a little bit of pocket money to spend at our events or sales. Some bake cakes. There are those who give their time, volunteering – maybe just as a one off, or maybe as a regular committee member. There are families and local businesses who sponsor, or donate prizes. The tasks involved throughout the year are as varied as the parents themselves. The end result is a thriving charitable organisation which in the last year has committed over £15 000 to our school. We have helped to fund trips, we’ve bought equipment and funded experiences of all sorts for all of our children. I think that’s something we should all be enormously proud of.
