More dates to be added…

Daily Timetable –

Apple class starts the day at 8.55am and pick up is at 3.30pm.

We start each day with ‘Funky Fingers’ activities to build hand strength or handwriting activities to wok on letter formation.

After the Register, we go to our Phonics and Reading groups and then go back to Apple for our writing lesson.

We do Maths and Daily Maths everyday and mostly in the morning.

Please ensure that your child has a water bottle in school everyday filled only with water. They also need to bring in a waterproof coat and a jumper or cardigan in case we have wet and/or cold days. A fruit snack is provided in school but there often isn’t a huge choice so if you would prefer to send your child in with a snack please make sure that it is only fruit or cheese and crackers.

What are we learning this term?

Literacy: We will be continuing to work on our letter sounds, reading our Read Write Inc books and writing about stories that we read together in class.

Maths: This term we are focusing on Place Value up to 50 and beyond; introducing multiplication and division – starting with counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.

Science: This term we will be learning about plants.

Geography: This half term we will be learning about our local area with a focus on Budleigh Salterton.

DT: This half term, we are going to be learning about textiles and will be making puppets. In the second half term, we will be making bug houses!

RE: What is means to be a Muslim and how Muslims live.

PE: We will be learning to control our bodies and move around quickly and in creative ways!

Music:

Computing: We will learn how to log on to the computers and use a keyboard and mouse.

Current home-learning expectations

Reading: Your child’s reading pouch will be needed in school every day, complete with their reading log and current home book. We ask that you read for five minutes every evening so that each reading book is read three times. Books will be changed every Monday.

It is also very important to share a range of children’s stories to expand your child’s vocabulary as well as promoting a life-long love of reading. We’d like to encourage you to record the stories you share in your Reading Logs. We love hearing their recommendations too!

Please see Google Classrooms for your child’s home learning which changes each Friday. These will either be speed sound videos or spellings depending on your child’s phonics group. Please see the following video for ideas to help with spelling practice:

Maths:

Please continue to practice Doodle Maths.

It would also really help children to start counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s and your child may want to start using TT Rockstars! We will send out the logins soon.
