Patrick Jones is an internationally renowned abstract painter, who has exhibited in New York, London and Dublin. He was a Fine Art Fellow at University of Plymouth, where these prints were commissioned. They were made, in conjunction with Brad Faine at Corriander Press in Southall, West London, where Patrick worked with Damian Hirst and Sir Peter Blake. The images are derived from paintings, all of which are now in private collections.
The titles give a clue to the artist’s intentions:
- GRIOT is a wandering musician and mystic in DOGON (West African Art).
- LOST HORIZON refers to Budleigh Beach at Otter Head in radiant, pure colour.
- TWO MINDS is a blues song, where the singer asserts “I should have listened to my
second mind”… a reference to Ambiguity and Duality, two of Patrick’s abiding themes.
