Growing together in mind, body and spirit
As the Headteacher it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our school. Our motto is ‘Growing together in mind, body and spirit’. We aim to provide a loving and nurturing environment where all can flourish.
I feel very privileged to be part of the St Peter’s community. We have such great learners, parents, community groups and an amazing locality. How many schools can boast they have a beach, river and heathland on their doorstep? How many schools still have a swimming pool? We have high academic standards, superb musical opportunities and a wealth of sports clubs and activities. This includes specialist music and PE teachers.
Our school is nicely summed up by our motto, ‘Growing together in mind, body and spirit’.
“Growing together”. We live in an amazing town in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with an abundance of community groups and resources. “Growing together” describes how we give back to our community and celebrate and care for our local environment, through participating in festivals, singing in care homes, taking field trips or by organising beach cleans. It is also about the mind-set I expect from our pupils and staff: one where we strive together to continually improve ourselves.
Next is the “Mind” where we aim to develop knowledge, reading, writing and mathematics. We want our learners to be playful, creative, curious and engaged.
Then there is the “Body”. This represents the wide range of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities we offer. We provide a broader range of sporting and musical opportunities than you might expect to find in a typical primary school. We love going on trips and having visitors, and we arrange a residential experience for each year group in Key Stage 2.
Last, but not least, is the “Spirit”. This is about developing children’s character within our Christian ethos. We want our pupils to have a positive attitude to learning, think of others before themselves, and do a good deed every day. For example, we do a lot of eco work and raise a lot of money for charity.
Please read on to find out more about our vision, and the curriculum we offer at St Peter’s. We are very proud of how much we offer to our pupils and families.
