Please remember the important information below too.
Reading
Recent research conducted in the school showed that reading each day at home directly related to a child’s attainment.
- The more a child reads, the better they do at school. It is the essential skill for developing general knowledge and vocabulary (number of words and understanding).
Minimum reading time expected each week day at home:
Reception – 5 minutes Year 1 – 10 minutes
Year 2 – 15 minutes Year 3 – 20 minutes
Year 4 – 25 minutes Year 5 – 30 minutes
Year 6 – 35 minutes
If a child reads on 50 days in one term then they are allowed a non-uniform day.
Maths
We also expect pupils to practice their times tables and number bonds at home each day. If you use Doodle maths for just 10 minutes three times a week, this will make a big difference. You should also use TTRockstars and Stick n Split for times tables practice.
