After Christmas packed lunch requirements

Single use plastic free packed lunches

In the new year, as part of our eco journey, we are going to be asking children to bring in single-use plastic free packed lunches. When we carried out our recent waste audit, there was a lot of plastic waste from packed lunch boxes. Here are some ideas for packing a single use plastic free lunch. Printed copies of this leaflet can also be found in the main entrance of the school.

We recognise that avoiding prepackaged items may initially feel less convenient but it is likely to be much cheaper and healthier. Please keep our packed lunch and snack policy in mind. Children may not bring in any food packed in single-use plastic for their snack. Please send them with fruit or  other healthy items packaged in a reusable container.

Children who bring in a single-use plastic free lunch can show it to one of the meal-time assistance in order to be awarded an eco point for their class. The class with the most eco points at the end of the term will win our eco cup and a forest school session.

Thank you for your support in working to protect the planet for all of our children’s futures.
