Campaign to Tackle Loneliness
2017 is a year of action for the Jo Cox Loneliness Commission, a cross-party group which continues the work on loneliness that MP Jo Cox was establishing before she was murdered.
Action for Children are leading the campaign in November with a ‘spotlight’ on loneliness amongst children, young people and parents.
Chat & Play Sessions are being organised as part of the month of action, these are special sessions in community locations where parents bring their young children and can talk to support workers. Action for Children are keen to enable as many of these sessions as possible and have produced a guidance pack. If you would be interested in running a Chat and Play Session please contact Hannah.John@actionforchildren.org.uk
In addition to the Chat and Play sessions Mumsnet will be hosting a ‘Twitter Party’ in week three, details will be released on Mumsnet and by Action for Children.
Action for Children will also be releasing new resources including:
- A toolkit to help early years practitioners address loneliness in parents
- Online advice for parents and carers who are worried about their children
- Online advice for young people on how they can support themselves and find help
Please follow Action for Children and the Jo Cox Loneliness Commission on social media to access the resources as they are released. They will be using the hashtag #Startswithhello throughout the month.
