Early Years Writing Workshop

Last night our Early Years parents got to come and play! We hosted an evening full of writing ideas and opportunities to explore the different play activities to support writing from the start. The playdough making station was a big hit and Mrs Broad showed clips of our amazing staff doing their daily Sherborne and Fun fit games. Thank you to everyone who came and supported the event, and for sitting on the tiny chairs!!

What parents said:
Just wanted to say thank you to the Early Years Team for such a brilliant handwriting / mark making session this evening. So informative, we have learnt lots to take away to try at home!
The St. Peter’s Budleigh children are very fortunate to have such a passionate Early Years Team who have given up their Tuesday evening to inspire parents to support their little one at home. We particularly like the pen strapped to the car. We have been inspired – Fab session. THANK YOU
“The obvious enthusiasm and care of the staff and their commitment to their role of developing young people in a fun and supportive environment comes across very clearly. This is inspirational for what we can and should be doing but also reassuring as a parent to see what is happening in school and the general ethos.”
“The format of the evening was great – the sit-down talk at the beginning allowed us to understand the ‘science’ behind it before trying out some of the activities ourselves. We loved seeing the clip of C taking part in Mrs Page’s balance exercises!”

Very interesting to hear and understand the development journey they go through when learning to write. I’d have assumed (being old school!) that it’s a case of sitting down and battling away with writing but this approach makes much more sense. Thank you!
