Eco School Message - end of year
We have had another successful term progressing our school’s Eco Vision and being courageous advocates for our environment more widely. It has been wonderful to see so much environmental learning happening in classrooms and planned into our new curriculum. We have completed all of the Surfers Against Sewage objectives and will be sending off our evidence so that we can be awarded SAS Plastic Free School Status.
There is still much to do and we are excited to have had our application to become a WASP (Waste Action Support Program) school accepted. This means that we will get lots of expert support from Devon Waste Educators to reduce our waste even further.
Having discussed areas for focus when we return in September, we would love to work on improving our school grounds for wildlife, getting children gardening and even begin to grow some of our own food. We also aspire and set up a school composting program.
In order for this to work successfully we desperately need some green-fingered volunteers. We hope to set up a gardening team to support with visioning and practicalities. It may be that you are able to get very much involved or that you can offer occasional watering, any help would be very much appreciated. If you, or someone you know, are able to help, please contact Ms Jemima Moore jmoore@sps1.sch.org
