Reporting absences - important!
IMPORTANT REMINDER REGARDING ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL
You may be aware of a case reported in the press in June 2017, where a 4 year-old boy starved to death in his home in London, following the death of his mother from a fit. The child’s school had apparently carried out a ‘first day contact’ process but little happened when the calls went unanswered, resulting in the boy going undiscovered in the home for some two weeks.
It is imperative that you report your child when they are absent from school. If we do not hear from you, we will contact you to ascertain the reason for being absent from school.
If we can not contact you we will use the child’s emergency contact list.
If no-one on the emergency list is able to help us, we will endeavour to make a home visit or phone the Police if we have any concerns.
Please can you all make sure that contact information, including emergency contacts for your child, are up to date.
If you are a lone parent, please ensure you have a plan in place in case of an emergency i.e. will your child know what to do in an emergency situation/you are incapacitated?
