Staff changes for next year

Dear parents and carers,

As the year draws to a close I want to let you know about some of the changes to staff for the next school year. It is with great sadness that we are saying goodbye to some very valued members of staff.

  • Mrs Vicky Lewis, our deputy head, will be leaving after 10 years of service to the school. Her hard work and dedication to this school has kept it going through many changes. Vicky has put so much effort into this school – way beyond the two days a week she is paid for! Her musical concerts and performances are of the very highest standard. The number of children having music lessons has increased dramatically thanks to VIcky’s passion for music. She works tirelessly for the staff and pupils of this school.
  • Ms Elizabeth Stubbs, our popular year 2 teacher. Elizabeth has also been with us for 10 years, teaching across the school. The children thoroughly enjoy being in her class, and she has been an integral part of the team. She has also been a governor and passionate advocate of reading and the school library.
  • Mr Paul Moger-Taylor, our music teacher. Paul has also contributed hugely to the musical success of the school. The amount of music and performance that the children have done has grown massively over the last few years. We will miss seeing Paul performing with the children on stage.
  • Mrs Caroline Richards, who has been a teacher here for the last two years. Even though she has only been here a short time, we are sad to see her leave to teach in Singapore. The pupils there will benefit from her kind manner and excellent teamwork.
  • Miss Poppy Evans, our teaching assistant in Sycamore. Poppy is off to do her teacher training. She is loved here by pupils and staff alike, who will be very sad to see her go, but delighted to know she will grow into a fantastic teacher.
  • Mr Mark Fuller, who has been a play leader at the school. We will miss his presence on the playground at lunchtime.
  • And last but not least, Mr William Tee, who has been a governor at the school for a very long time. William is a ‘super governor’. He has been involved in the school for over 10 years now. Under his stewardship, he has navigated the school through tough times and lots of change. William is very involved with the school staff. He has supported every class and been on many residentials.  We are going to miss him (and Mrs Tee) dearly.

If parents would like to donate any money to their leaving gifts, please visit the school office.

As a result of these departures, there are a few changes for September.

  • Mr Lee will become our full-time deputy headteacher, with no teaching commitments next year.
  • Mrs Lisa Broad will be taking on the leadership of the whole of the Foundation Stage (Reception and Preschool).
  • Mrs Kelly Downing has taken on the role of Maths leader.
  • Mrs Caroline Walshaw and Miss Emily Shepherd will be joining the teaching team.
  • We are hoping to recruit a new music teacher very soon.
  • There are some vacancies for teaching assistants – more details of that on the school website.
  • If anyone is interested in becoming a governor, a note will coming home about that.

Pupils will find out which class they are in when their reports go home on Friday 6th July.

On Tuesday 10th July, after school, we hold an open parents meeting where you can visit your child’s new teacher, or see their old one (regarding their report).

Despite the fact we are losing many beloved staff, I am confident that our staffing structure for next year will continue to raise standards of education and care at St Peter’s.

Many thanks,  Steve
