End of term thanks - and MERRY CHRISTMAS
It’s the end of another busy term at St Peter’s. We’ve had such a fun time in school, learning through our new St Peter’s curriculum.
I think I’ve seen everything this term! An amazing array of play experiences in the Foundation Stage. This has included a train, a chimney, a rocket factory and Santa’s sleigh!…..all created and made by the children!
In Cherry and Willow class we were shocked to receive a letter from the Budleigh Beastie……which inspired lots of creative, written and geographical work.
In Chestnut there was a visit from Freddy the Fairy, who was fascinated by the lives of children.
Sycamore and Cedar classes really went to town with their Egyptian project. We saw so much fantastic project work, including a trip to @Bristol and the River Otter.
Some of the strangest and most abstract fun happened in Beech, Ash and Oak classes, who made and looked after Flour Babies!
In every year group we have tried to make things playful and purposeful. I remember the fantastic Art Exhibition in Key Stage 1: a great chance to show-off art skills, rather than just painting for the sake of it. I hope you have all enjoyed taking part this term.
Once again we’ve tried to use the community and locality as much as possible. The Fairlynch, River Otter, Church and much more have featured in our curriculum.
We’ve celebrated the coming of Christmas in many ways. I was so proud of all the performances – it put a smile on all of our faces. We have also tried to put the smiles on many faces in the community, which has included the Late Night Shopping or the visits we’ve made to Care Homes.
I congratulate all the children this term, for their improving attitude and application towards our motto of ‘Growing together, in Mind, Body and Spirit’. We have worked again on developing the children’s mindset; to one of taking on challenges, learning from mistakes, and collaborating with each other to help them learn.
We have also enjoyed a lot of sporting and musical successes. It is a pleasure to see the children perform, take part or win medals in whichever sport or discipline they play. This has ranged from winning cylco-cross, to performing in the Otter Collective.
Today, all of the children had a special treat, in the form of a performance of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ by a children’s theatre company. They have given us all a lot of joy, so this was a way to reward them for a great term. A huge thanks to the PTA who have kindly paid for this.
Lastly, a big thanks to all of the staff, governors, Church, volunteers and parents for all of the support you have given us this term. You help to make this a brilliant and supportive school community.
We have much to look forward to next term. There are our new classrooms and swimming pool. And of course, new topics which you will now get a weekly update about through the class newsletters.
I hope everyone has a peaceful Christmas and Happy New Year.
Steve and the St Peter’s team.
