New classrooms officially opened!

On Friday 29th January 2016 we officially opened our new classroom block.

We were joined by many guests which included members of staff past and present, councillors and colleagues in the Budleigh Community who have supported the school.

We also had some special guests in the form of The Right Reverend Dame Sarah Mullally, Bishop of Crediton, who blessed and opened the building. The family of former Headteacher Sally Roberts also joined us in recognition of the building being named after her. Her husband Jeremy had the honour of unveiling the plaque in her memory.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has contributed to this project, from members of staff past and present, to councillors, Devon County Council and anyone else that has made this building a reality.

We reserve huge praise for the Diocese of Exeter. To be frank, we would not have buildings of this quality without their vision and support. From Richard Power and Raymond Twohig working on the funding, to Jason Down for his exemplary design work. We thank you all for providing such a boast to the school.

It is truly heart-warming to walk down the corridor into a well-thought out space, that has a certain atmosphere of calm and purposefulness. We only wish we had another 10! Many many schools across the country can only dream of such nice accommodation. The children have already commented how spacious and nice the classrooms feel. And they love the touchscreen boards!

We also want to thank the builders, Skinners, for doing such a good job. The way they have worked with us has been very professional. In particular, we thank Andrew Sturgess for his endless patience, and Kevin as Foreman for keeping the whole ship running smoothly.

We know these classrooms will inspire many generations of learners, so it was fitting that our chair of governors, John Beaumont, announced the dedication of our new classrooms to former Headteacher Sally Roberts. She made a lasting impact on the children and staff at the school and will now be remembered for many years to come.
