World Book Day: Thursday 7th March
The theme for World Book Day 2019 is SHARE A STORY as we want to keep spreading the word about the importance of families sharing stories – anywhere and at any time! For children, being read to is fun, deeply reassuring and calming. For parents, reading to a child is a bonding and affirming experience. It is a win-win!
We are celebrating World Book Day this year by asking all pupils to come to school dressed up as a word. This is known as a vocabulary parade.
It is important that your child’s costume includes a piece of card with their word clearly written on it and if possible a ‘child friendly’ definition of the word. Key Stage 2 pupils should also think about including synonyms and antonyms too.
As well as having some very special story time, each class will take part in some creative vocabulary activities to encourage pupils to explore and experiment with some of these new words.
