Fairlynch visit for WW2

Last week upper KS2 visited the Fairlynch museum to learn more about WW2.

Kate and all the other volunteers at Fairlynch, including Betty, Iris and Margaret, had clearly gone to a lot of effort to organise our visit.  The stories which were shared by Iris and Margaret were fascinating and our pupils loved the opportunity to wear the hats.  The impact of their efforts was clearly measurable in size of the smiles on the children’s faces!

During the morning, they made the Second World War real and relevant to where we live.  By doing this the children’s appreciation of the breadth of the impact of the Second World War has grown.  I am sure pupils will now show the damaged brickwork outside Jotty’s to their parents!
