Uniform

We believe that the wearing of a school uniform enables children to identify with their school, gives a sense of belonging, is practical and smart, reinforces a positive work ethos and high standards, and reduces expenditure for parents.

Our uniform is affordable, simple, flexible and non-discriminatory, to comply with the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Equality Act 2010. For those in need, we provide it free of charge. Pupil Premium children can claim back the cost of any uniform expense. If pupils or parents need alternative arrangements, that can be arranged through the headteacher.

We are an eco school, and strongly encourage parents to swap and reuse uniforms. We do this termly.

Uniform:

There is no expectation that you have to have the school logo on items of uniform.

  • Mid-grey trousers, skirts or pinafore dresses.
    • No jeans, combat pants, track suits, jogging bottoms or leggings.
    • Skirts and dresses must be no shorter than knee-high.
  • Mid-grey shorts.
    • No jeans, combat pants, track suits, jogging bottoms or leggings.
  • White or grey socks, or mid-grey tights (not leggings).
  • White polo shirt.
  • Green sweatshirt, fleece or cardigan.
  • A pair of sensible plain black shoes or plain black trainers (no fashion shoes, sandals, heels or boots of any kind).
    • We have sought advice from DCC Health and Safety team and sandals are not allowed on Health and Safety grounds. This seems sensible, as we do outdoor trips, cooking and other experiences that means footwear needs to be as safe as possible.
  • Earring must be plain metal studs only. No other jewellery.

For PE and Forest School (worn to school on PE/Forest School days):

  • A pair of plain black shorts or skorts of appropriate length.
    • Very short shorts are not permitted.
  • A standard green or white T- shirt.
    • Key Stage 2 pupils who compete in the Devon School Games and are given an official Devon School Games t-shirt may wear this within PE lessons.
  • School jumper.
  • Black trainers.
  • Children should come to school in their PE trainers (plain black). For muddy and wet conditions, please send them with a change of waterproof shoes (e.g. walking shoes or wellies). We have spares.
    • Plimsolls are not permitted as they do not offer you the correct support.
  • Plain black tracksuit bottoms or leggings for cold weather.
  • Children should wear their school jumpers for PE.

During cold and wet conditions, a suitably warm and waterproof coat is needed. Please also send your child with their school uniform as a change of clothes.
