Standing Up for St Peter’s: Investing in Our Children’s Education

For generations, St Peter’s Primary and Nursery has been at the heart of the Budleigh Salterton community. We are incredibly proud of the nurturing and ambitious environment we provide for every child.

However, the state-funded education system is facing severe challenges. A national funding crisis, skyrocketing operational costs, and increasing pupil needs mean the gap between the funding we receive and the cost of providing an education is widening. For years, we have run a tight budget to shield our staff and children, but we cannot ignore the reality any longer.

While we can’t fix the national funding formula overnight, we can protect our school. Even if state funding is falling short, our community does not have to.

Our Current Campaign: Carpets and Chromebooks

We have identified two critical, tangible needs that state funding simply will not cover, and we are launching a transparent appeal to our community for help. Led by our School Council, this campaign is focused on:

  • Replacing Worn Classroom Carpets: Our children deserve clean, comfortable environments. We aim to replace all worn flooring throughout our classrooms.

  • Modernising Our Chromebooks: Digital skills are essential. We need to upgrade our outdated technology to ensure our KS2 pupils have the tools required for 21st-century learning.

We are not asking for money for “extras”—we are asking for the essentials that allow us to continue providing the high-quality education every child deserves.
